Learning Lab
Learning Lab is an open standards initiative led by CKS which seeks to explore innovative ways to use mobile
technologies to enhance teaching and learning activities, both in and outside of classrooms. We have worked with
public schools in Bangalore to conduct the research study, and have conceptualized services and products that
harness the creativity of students while enabling them to learn through play. This initiative is now in its second
phase of activity.

Doors 8
Doors 8 was held in March 2005 in New Delhi centered on the theme of Infra. This week long international conference
brought together diverse set of practitioners and theorists to explore new thinking in design and technology based
on social innovation.
Doors 8 was the eighth edition of the renowned Doors of Perception Conference organized by the Amsterdam based Doors
of Perception Foundation in partnership with CKS. Since 1993, Doors conferences have provoked people to think about
sustainability, pervasive computing and the future of service and product design in new ways.
This time too, attendees got a chance to discuss issues such as ‘city as a site of innovation’, ‘social research and
design’, ‘designing for social welfare’ and ‘designing services using locative media’. Doors 8 was sponsored by Nokia,
Intel, HP and involved leading schools from India, and abroad, and saw active participation from students and the
academic community. The event spawned new ventures and enabled connections between professionals from technology,
sustainable design, urban research, architecture, media and social sciences. |
