The issue of trust and reliability amongst the BOP respondents while using mobile payment or other such services involving financial transactions is also of special interest to the study. The Emerging Economy Report
The Emerging Economy Report, a path-breaking project on emerging economies was launched in March 2008. The report is a 350 slide document that provides essential information, innovative business models and opportunity areas for companies creating new products and services for consumers in the emerging economies of the world. The Emerging Economy Report is a decisioning tool for global business innovation. It does not contain mere economic and investment advice of the other emerging economy reports. The CKS team has analyzed in depth the effects of demographic shifts and societal trends in each of these countries. Our ethnographers visited multiple locations in each country, to conduct home visits to analyze the needs, desires and concerns of users who continue to remain outside the purview of the design community. The Mobile Development Report
The Mobile Development Report offers a careful analysis of the social dynamics of mobile phone usage among urban and rural users from lower income backgrounds. It uses extensive qualitative case studies, rather than quantitative data, to explore the role that mobile phones play in the everyday lives of end users. These snapshots provide new insight into the ways in which new products, protocols and services could be designed to enhance the everyday lives of new rural adopters of mobile phones. New kinds of welfare and social services are proposed, in this study, on the basis of field findings.

How to Wire Rural India
In South Asia, where most rural populations lack basic resources like running water and sanitation systems, and where electricity, roads and even education are scarce and intermittent resources, high technologies truly appear to be far removed from the everyday concerns of the poorest sections of the countryside. This article critically examines the problems and possibilities of digital development in order to reveal the larger impact that ICTs could have on rural economies and societies.

Domesticating the Desktop
Although ICTs are being experimentally deployed at a number of locations in South Asia, more successful interventions appear to involve certain deformations and adaptations of modular ICTs to suit the needs of new rural users. This paper suggests that alternative audio-visual forms must be invented by project planners, personnel and users through the transcendence of existing ideologies of technology, literacy and social hierarchy.
