Technology Products
Users in emerging markets have different needs than mainstream users in industrialized societies. At CKS we
conduct contextual research studies to help technology companies determine the kind of devices, interfaces,
features, services and power needs these groups of users require, and create design prototypes of the same. |

Mobile Services
In order to anticipate future limitations to revenue earnings from basic services and to take maximum advantage
of the new opportunities of mobile data exchange, companies need to create services that deliver real value for
subscribers, and for which they would be willing to pay small amounts on an on-going basis. These value added
services, which so far have mainly been designed to target high-end business and young-elite users, need to be
designed or customized for non-traditional users and other first time users of mobile technologies. |

New Financial Services
Several innovative community banking models have emerged in South Asia in the past few years. These services
transfer social capital into financial capital, and are intrinsic to the development of local communities. A
range of new debit and credit functionalities using emerging communication and media technologies can amplify
this phenomenon. We seek to understand the range of possibilities in this sector, and provide consultancy
services to organizations interested in penetrating this market. |
